How to Make Music Starting From Score Writing Up to Music Publishing at Site

All of my music is written by using a notation PC software named Score Writer, bought from Genie Soft. Every sound you heard is came from the score note instead of recording done through microphone.
First version of Score Writer was published by Cake Walk. But this version is not supporting VST instruments. The version bought from Genie Soft is in version 4 which supporting VST instruments which stands for Virtual Studio Technology. To make Score Writer to be able to use VST instruments, SynthFont VST from VSTSynFont( V1.003 ) was downloaded free into Score Write VST Plug in folder. Chaos 8Mb soundfont is also downloaded as well. The combination of SynthFont VST and Chaos 8MB soundfont is making the sound given by the musical instruments really near to the sound produced by actual musical instruments. One good example is the flute. When a note is blew for quite a long period, we may heard the sound generated is “real” like blew by human. The sound heard for the one same note is not the flat same sound for the whole period. This kind of effect could not be produced by Score Writer version 1 which is not supporting VST.
Score Writer is having the feature of panning. It is the positioning of every musical instruments in the hall. We may put the piano at left side of the hall and cello at another side of the hall. The panning is ranging from negative 64 to positive 63 and zero is representing the centre of the hall.
To make the music with reverberation, Classic Reverb is imported into Score Writer VST Plug in folder as well. Classic Reverb was downloaded free. Room size could be set in Classic Reverb which makes the produced sound like the music is really played in the hall.
Music written through score note, all musical instruments are played exactly on the beat which is impossible to be achieved by human. This could be the main problem of music which written by score notes. To resolve this, humanization on the music needs to be done. That is, some musical sound need to be played a little bit late or early compare with others. A suitable instrument is selected and the whole track of its music will be made a little bit slower compared with others( slower by a Demisemiquaver – 1/32 notes for the tempo of 110 Crotchets per minute ). When the music is having one note which played by all instruments in loud( orchestra hit ), some instruments sound will be made a little bit slower. These are my two common practices in music humanization.
After completion of the notes writing, the music then is converted into music format WAV by Score Writer’s “Record to File” function. To burn the music onto CD, music in file format WAV is required. Nero is used for this purpose by just selecting the WAV file into Nero.
But music file in WAV format is taking up a huge memory space( about 30Mb to 60Mb for one music with length of 4 minutes ) which is not popular for on-line. The music is converted into format of MP3 where the size usually goes down to 1/10. To do this converting, Audio MID Recorder is used.
Before using Audio MID recorder to do the converting, the required format needs to be setup. The file format of the music which needs to be converted is not the concern of the recorder. This music could be in any format. It is also means that we may convert WAV file frequency 44100 in 16 bits to WAV file frequency 32000 in 8 bits. Or converting MP3 192Kbps to MP3 128Kbps. The recorder is just recording whatever heard into the required format. This is also one option to increase the volume of the music.
To do the converting, after pressing “Record” button at Audio MID Recorder, play the music by whatever player. What we heard will be recorded into the required format. To mix any special effect into the music, just play the special effect together with the music, after recording started at Audio MID Recorder. Since the special effect is played together with music, so the special effect and music need to be played by different players.
The generated file now is ready to be uploaded to site.

Publisher generally refers to the person/company that owns the right to the lyrics and/or the written music. Are you sure you’re using ‘publisher’ in the right context?
Also, you don’t gain automatic rights to the masters simply by recording them … they will be owned by whoever pays for them generally (unless a band is stupid enough to sign away all their rights.)
Can you clarify why you need a contract if you are purely a recording studio? Perhaps I have misunderstood what you are asking.
A publisher is supposed to place songs for a writer. Let’s suppose I am a songwriter (Which I am.) I write a tune. I can’t be chasing Billy Ray and Garth around and don’t know when they are looking anyhow. I get hold of a publisher who, for a good percentage of the royalties, looks for artists to place the song with. If you have already placed a song or are recording it and releasing it yourself then a publisher is good to suck your money up.
The only thing you need to know about a publisher is who they have placed songs with and when. if they haven’t placed anything you’ve heard of lately, or they handle rock and you’re blues you probably don’t want to deal with them.

You rake all the income derived from sales of your music. But it comes with a price. Establishing a successful publishing company you need to have capital, working management knowledge and extensive network in the business. Bet you want your music to be sold to the mass, let the expert do it. And if you gain enough career and monetary success you can entertain the idea of putting your own publishing company.
Record deals and publishing deals are two separate things.
You sell the recording rights to the record company and your publishing rights to a publishing company. They are two separate deals, two separate contracts and in many cases, the two companies are not only not assosciated with each other but can be bitter rivals. You could sell your recording rights to EMI but have Chappels music as your publisher. You sign with whoever offers you the better deal, That’s the whole point.
Record companies buy into the sales of the music in sound form.
Publishing companies buy into the sales of the sheetmusic and books.
Publishing as a rule makes you more money that record contracts.
Touring is costly and you can end up OWING more money than you made.
In answer to how to get published, it’s not easy, but the first thing to do is to make an outstanding copy of 4-10 of your best works and record them in a studio. Make sure you have the work COMPLETED to perfection. This means engineered, artwork done (NO HOMEPRINTING) Jewel case with insert.
When YOU’RE sure it’s PERFECT you’ll find publishers in your phone book under “Publishers/Music” and you do what we all do, make a copy of the disk to keep for yourself and send a copy to the publishing company.
If they like it, they’ll contact you, if they dont, that’s just how it goes, but if you’re successful they’ll basically act as your agent.
If you’re attmepting to be the act that performs the work yourself (Instead of a songwriter who writes for others or licences others to use your material) then you need to concentrate on the recording contract first. Guys, you build up a fan base by performing,live, not by uploading to the net. The quickest, fastest most sure way to get a record company A&R guy to notice you is to be pulling an audience! If you pull crowds, they’ll be there.

I am a musician myself and was a music business major for 3 years until I because disgusted by it 🙂 I’ll try to answer as simply and as easy as I can.
Publishing is not specific to books. Music publishing can include books (print royalties), but mainly deals with the music.
Example:
A band knows a guy who knows a guy whos cousin has an entertainment law degree working for a publishing company. Now the band gets their demo to the cousin in the pub. co. They guy likes them and they enter into a contract.
Now this publishing company in my situation is NOT a completely independant pub co..this means that its owners do not also own a record label, distribution plant, etc…
Basically the publisher is there to make you as big as possible because that means more money for them.
That means they do whatever they can. That ranges from hiring a producer and finding a studio to record in, handling the legal matters in these new contracts, instructing you on how to promote, promoting for your, finding shows.
They have a hefty job, and mostly have connections already and deals with people in the music biz chain to make their life a bit easier.
Like many other questions to do with the music industry (or anything to do with the arts, for that matter), this has fairly simple steps to explain, but rather hard to actually put into practice.
Get rep, get contacts. In this case, get to know people in the industry – as people – and join choirs, musical productions, et al. to get experience. Backstage crew or minor singers in the big ones if there’s any vacancies, get the directors/conductors to know you a little bit through hard work and loyalty. When the directors/conductors know you well enough (whether it’s a big-name director/conductor or not), ask for their references to show to a -small- music publishing company, and then work with them. Small music publishing companies will give you enough experience to go with one of the bigger ones.
But it’s hard work, like anything else – unless you get a massive stroke of genius and submit an amazing piece of work – an incredible song track or something. Or if you get a bunch of people together, get them good, and have your very own sample choir/theatre music etc etc. (If theater, the community theatre can be a good place to start.)
You could try seeking funding on http://www.prosper.com which is a person to person lending site. Make sure you have a good write up that explains your business plan, goals and experience that is relevant to starting the business.
A lot of artists sell the rights for a one time payment instead of collecting the royalties over time.
Sometimes a new artist will give the publishing rights to their record label as part of their recording/promotion contract. Probably not a good idea if you believe you are ever going to make the big time.

I plan on recording an album for a hip-hop music group in my home studio…and I will have contracts ready for them for copyrights and licensing. I have some premade contracts which I am typing up to my own expectations..but they refer to the “Publisher” alot. As I am the one making tracks for these groups….I don’t own a publishing company.
