- With all the different platforms and content now available, the serious content generator now has to figure out how to create and maintain a following for their work.
Most professionals today understand that, regardless of context, the most effective way to create and maintain a following is through a strong presence in the public forum. That’s why a variety of publication platforms is so important. My favorite writing site is http://StoryMash.com.
There are several different types of online publishing…. eBooks, blogs, websites, etc and each has its own specific software requirements. It also depends on what operating system you have. Without knowing these details it’s difficult to offer specific advice. However, you might find something here that meets your needs. They’re all open source (free) software:

Sourceforge.net is one of the larger hosting sites for open source projects

You could also check some of these hosting sites as well:

As a bonus, since your current file is in Acrobat, you’re probably using Acrobat Reader. You might want to check out this free alternate utility from Foxit. It’s fully compatible with PDF files and doesn’t use up near as much computer resources.

not much.
Yes, it still applies, and, yes, you can still get in legitimate legal trouble for using their quotes without permission should they decide to press charges.
StoryMash is a great site to publish short pieces online freely and quickly. It’s collaborative fiction, so anyone can continue work from anyone else, and get paid for it. Poetry is accepted too. The storymash writing contests will get you the quickest recognition and feedback!
Good luck with your book!

Why not do both?
WordPress has a plug in, free to download which automatically imports blogger content on the fly. So set up both your accounts, write posts in blogger and generate cash from your blogger ads. Then set up the wordpress plugin to update automatically when you post in blogger. A set up guide for the plug in is contained within the help section of the wordpress set up files. It’s easy to set up also if you don’t have much time.
This doubles your exposure and opens your content up to the wordpress communities as well as the blogger communities.
By the way you can use adsense with wordpress, look in the help section for how to add it to the end of each post.
do a search using
http://www.writersdigest.com
they have a list of the top 100 web sites for writers.
First of all that’s just sad. Why would anybody want to buy your book of stolen recipes when there are so many free recipes online anyway.
What is better for online publishing, Blogger or WordPress?
I’ve checked out a lot of info on both of these tools and I’m leaning towards (the online) WordPress but there are a couple things:
– I think WordPress don’t allow me to put on adsense but reserve the right to put their own adsense on my blog. With Google, I can put on adsesnse..??
– Google’s blogger doesn’t have tags/categories??
thanks for your help!
What copyright is needed for blogs or online publishing?
My husband is wanting to put some of his book he has been working on online in either his blog or perhaps on his myspace and website. However, there is a concern of people ripping it off. So what type of copyright will he need to have inplace on it for online purposes. Any advice, input, or guidance is appreciated.
What’s the best software for online publishing that doesn’t cost a fortune? Any free programs to download?
What would be a good website to check for ONLINE PUBLISHING free software? The current file is in Acrobat. Can I edit and then re-publish using that program?
Does anybody know any good online publishing sites?
I’m writing a book, and it’s really good, but I’ve heard that it helps to get writing published faster if you’re already well known in the writing community. I have a lot of poetry that is pretty good, so does anybody know where I can publish them online?
What are some good websites for free online publishing?
I have a few stories that I’d like to get published, some of them original, other Fan Fictions. I’ve used Fan Fiction.net, and a few others, but I think I need a few more to get my work actually out there? Anybody used some good ones that they could recommend? (PS. I’ve tried QUITE a few!)

How much do people earn from online publishing?

Thanks!! 🙂
Online Publishing…………?
So I want to post some of my stories (or at least parts of them) online to get opinions from other people. Here’s not where to do that, I know, because I’ve tried that and only got one or two replies to my questions. No one wants to read those long paragraphs people post here. So are there any sites where you can post your original works to get feedback?
Does anyone have experience with taking online recipes and publishing them in a book? Copyright issues?
So many online recipe sites out there, and some do not say whether they are “free” or not, even though they are online and in the realm of public domain for anyone to copy and paste. What are the Canadian legal ramifications to this if one compiles them for publishing, but does include their own preamble or personal instructions with the recipes?
Are copyright rules/ laws different between books and online publishing?
I’m writing a book about an organisation and I think they won’t give me the permission I need to include quotes from their works in my book. If I encounter too many problems with them, should I simply publish the book online? Do I still need their permission to use their quotes if my book is only available on line?
