I’m a romance author, so I’m afraid I don’t know much about your genre. But you would probably do well to join Mystery Writers of America, a well-known professional organization for published and aspiring mystery authors. I’m sure that just like Romance Writers of America, they have publications and message boards that you will find very helpful.
you need a publisher

How about a dark corner with a streetlamp glowing and the title of the book written across the top and casting a shadow on the street? Pax – C
Read Writer’s Market. It will tell you who is buying.
It’s not just a question of publication. Most of the earlier titles were “updated” in more recent editions, which means you may have the titles, but unless you have the first editions you don’t necessarily have the original text from the 30s or 40s.
And yes, that will be extremely expensive. Unfortunately, I don’t think there is a plan to republish the originals in their entirety.
If it’s of interest to you, the four Nancy Drew films starring Bonita Granville will soon be available on dvd.
wow that is so cool u wrote a book im writing one to but unfortunately this probably isn’t the best place to ask for a publisher, u should look for like companies who do it for a living and let them read it when ur done to see if they think its good enough to publish . u should put it on here asking people what they think of part of the book, i really wanna read it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
House of the Long Shadows(1983) with Vincent Price.
An American writer goes to a remote Welsh manor on a $20,000 bet: can he write a classic novel like “Wuthering Heights” in twenty-four hours? Upon his arrival, however, the writer discovers that the manor, thought empty, actually has several, rather odd, inhabitants.
The book has two publishers and release dates because it has been edited by one and not by the other and both publishers are going to release it. As far as one having more pages that could be because to was edited out, the difference in type, or size of the page or because one is hard bound and one is a paperback. Having looked at the site, there actually three publications scheduled, it appears one is being released in Great Britain, and one is a library publication. It is hard to determine much about the third publication but I would guess it is an American release, similar to what was done with Harry Potter, neither was the “proper” book they were edited for the audience they were targeting and the “two” publishers in that case was the British and American divisions of the same publishing firm.
Look on bookfinder.com. You’ll get a better idea than you will from a site like eBay.
Personally, I can’t believe you’d even ask that. Keep writing. Keep trying. Every single author who has ever been famous is famous because they put their words to paper and allowed others to read it. If you give up now, you will never get anywhere. If writing is what you love to do, then go with it. Take writing classes in college. As for writing a book on the side, that is perfectly reasonable. Very few authors actually get by on their books alone. Well, maybe J.K. Rowling and possibly Christopher Paolini, because Harry Potter and Eragon were thought of highly enough to be put into movie form. Nonetheless, keep at it. The world needs more writers.
I’m writing a book and I was wondering if I should just throw it away. Do people read anymore?
I’m seventeen a junior in high school and I’ve written a book. The origional copy is on notebook paper. It is over three hundred pages long and a mystery. Since I was eleven I have wanted to be a writer, but not a mystery writer historical fiction is more my thing. I know that isn’t typically a girl genre, but I can’t get the idea out of my head. I write everyday, but I am starting to wonder if I am wasting my time. Do people read anymore. My English teacher told me once that people only want to read books by well known successful authors. I wanted to know if I should finish typing it and send it to a few publishers or if I should just throw it away. Am I just dreaming here? I know it is unrealistic but it is all I have ever wanted. I don’t care if I’m rich or if I have to work and do my writing on the side to support myself. All I want to do is be a writer. Should I just listen to what everyone’s been telling me and give up on my dream or should I pursue it?
Murder Mystery Book Description?
I’m doing a book cover for college assignment.
Book Cover
Title: ‘Shadows in The Night’
Category: ‘Murder Mystery’
Author: ‘Mariana Sheltes’
Publisher: ‘Jenkins Publishing’
Any Ideas for a description?
Thanks in advance.
I already have the front cover/title, done. I’m simply looking for what I would put as a description on the back cover, such as:
”From renown author Mariana Sheltes comes her latest book Shadows in The Night
Is it a shadow or is it a ghost? Read Shadows in The Night and help catch the shadow before it catches you!”
What I want to do is expand on this description.
I don’t think this is a real book!!
Nancy Drew classic series: Will there ever be an all-in-one compilation?
Do the Nancy Drew classic mystery book series publishers plan to publish an all-in-one compilation of the classic Nancy Drew series? It’s so hard to find the earlier titles and it’s also very expensive since I am planning to collecting all of the 175 or 176 of the Classic Nancy Drew titles.
I’m searching for a publisher who would be willing to publish a book.?
I’m not totally sure how it works, but I’m looking for a publisher who would be willing to publish a fantasy book(which will be finished within a year, it is only half way complete), a comedy(that is complete buit is being revised), or a chapter book(which is also a mystery book and is almost complete).
Does anyone know of any book agents who are looking for new mystery writers?
I am writing my first mystery and this will be my third book, (first two published in 2004 & 2006 in sci-fantasy/superhero genre) but I am writing my first murder mystery and looking for an agent to represent me. That or a publisher who maybe looking for a new author with a series character. Any ideas folks?
How to Publish My Mystery Book?
I’m a professional writer. I wrote a well-reviewed business management book a few years back, which was published by a respected business press.
But it’s my dream to publish fiction. I’ve read hundreds of mysteries and now I wrote one myself. I need to find an agent or a publisher, but no luck. Still, so many mysteries are published, there must be a big market.
I know about self-publishing, but I don’t have the time or money for that.
Any suggestions?
Does Anyone Know Where I can Publish a Book?
I just finished writing a book a little over a year ago, but am green in the publishing world. I’ve looked into some publishers, but they just didn’t seem reputable.
Does anyone know of any reputable book publishers?
It’s Suspense/Mystery and fiction, if that helps anybody.
Thanks.
Can someone help me figure out how much my book is worth?
I have four Nancy Drew mystery series books. They are the original writer using the Carolyn Keene name (Carolyn Keene was a pen name owned by the publisher, there are some new Nancy Drew books that say Carolyn Keene on them but they are a different author than the originals). They are the first printings, and in pretty good condition. Every one of them is antique, at least 50-60 years old. Are they worth anything? Can anyone get me some information on this? Or show me where I can get the info? Thanks!
Why has this one book got two separate publishers and release dates?
http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_3_10?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=molly+moon+and+the+morphing+mystery&sprefix=molly+moon
I was looking on Amazon at a book I was hoping to buy upon it’s release date. I was under the impression that it was to be released on May 4th 2010, however after reaching this site, I discovered that the book is being released twice, one with more pages than the other, at different times in the year. They also have different publishers, but it is the exact same book. What i would like to know, is which of these two is the actual proper one, and then what the purpose of the other one is.
Thank you.
looking for name of old murder mystery?
I saw a movie 20-25 years ago on HBO. The main character is a best selling writer with a british publisher. They make a bet that the writer can’t write a mystery story/book in 48 hrs. The publisher sets the writer up in an old estate home where no one but the caretaker lives but people, who use to live there, start showing up. As the night moves on the people then start showing up died.
