About the Author
The journal was founded in 1995 and the first issue volume 1, numbers 1 and 2 made its debut in June 1995. The ten-man Editorial Board was headed by Barth N. Ekwueme. The sixteen maiden articles reflected the goal of the journal as spelt out in the maiden editorial entitled: “A step in the right direction”. The aims were and are still to publish authoritative articles that reflect worldwide research advances and evolving trend in the pure and applied sciences and relevant to its environment.
The journal grew rapidly in terms of number of manuscript submission and accepted for publication. It was regular and articles published were peer-reviewed. The journal was not established for selfish interest. Those in other fields of research including Humanities, Engineering, Social Sciences demanded from the Founder the floating of journals to publish articles in their area. Yielding to their demand, the Founder established the Global Journal series comprising the journals listed under profile. That was in 2002. since then the Journals had grown and have contributed to the promotion of many academicians. It has also been rated highly by International Network for Scientific Information (INASP) based in Oxford. For instance, Global Journal of Environmental Sciences was rated by INASP as the second most popular journal in Africa in 2005 and in 2006, INASP and council of science Editors sponsored the Founder / Managing Editor to attend the 49th Council of Science Editors’ meeting in Tampa Florida U.S.A. He was awarded the council’s international scholarship for 2006. The National Universities Commission (NUC) of Nigeria listed all the journals in the Global Journal series in its 2007 catalogue of assessed journals suitable for appraisal and promotion of academic staff in Nigerian Tertiary Institutions. African Journal online has also rated the journals highly and is hosting the journals in its website. Presently an article entitled: Youth unemployment in Nigeria: some implications for the third Millenium published by O.O. Alanana, in Global Journal of Social Sciences Vol. 2, No1 (2003) is ranked in AJOL as the most popular article in Africa. Apart from this, the journals are indexed and abstracted in reputable databases e.g. Chemical Abstracts, CAB Abstracts etc. The journals are presently being assessed for Impact Factor by Thomas Reuters.

Yes. There ‘s a standard format for manuscript submission, more than I can cover here. See them at http://www.writerswrite.com/journal/dec98/shunn.htm , among other places.
If your novel is terrific, publishers or agents will ignore format gaffes, but why not make it perfect in terms of format when it’s pretty easy?
Best of luck selling it.
Send the revised version just as you sent it to the editor. Just make it look clean. Make it look “final copy.”
A query letter goes out alone. Its sole purpose is to get an agent or publisher to ask to see the manuscript. It should not be sent until the novel is complete and polished, rewritten and revised until it cannot be improved. It should include the title, genre, word count, a paragraph about the plot, a paragraph about your qualifications to write it (including any writing awards or experiences used in your plot), and your thanks for their time. Enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope (SASE) for a reply. If and only if their submission guidelines ask for more would you enclose anything else, such as a bio, or the first 50 pages.
If your query letter worked and they ask to see the manuscript, congratulations. Now you send the manuscript with a cover letter. Its purpose is to remind the agent or publisher that this is material s/he asked to see, not something being sent unsolicited by someone hopeful but unprofessional.
(Don’t you feel smarter for asking before committing a faux pas?)
A cover letter can be as simple as “Enclosed you will find my novel, TIMEPIECE, as requested in your letter of April 15, and my SASE for your reply. I hope you enjoy it.”
Keep it simple and professional. Nobody cares that your mom thinks your book is great, or that you “really really really” want to be published (I’ve actually received query letters with these and other ridiculous statements!). Don’t get cute with weird fonts and colors (I’ve received queries in red italic, among other things…).
Paragraph one: Who are you, how did you here about me, and what do you want?
Example: My name is Jane Doe. I found your company’s listing at The Writer’s market Weekly. Enclosed please find my 300 page mystery novel, The Mystery of Me, for your review.
paragraph Two: What is the book about?
Example: The Mystery of Me tells the story of Russ Williams, a police academy student who finds his dormmate dead and himself the prime suspect. As Russ struggles to prove his innocence, he begins to uncover strange clues about his own past. And when another body is found not far from Russ’s childhood home, he begins to come to a terrifying realization that he may very well be the killer.
paragraph Three: What qualifies you to write this book?
Example: My current field of study is psychology, and this is my first attempt at novel writing. However, as a student of psychology and a long-time fan of the mystery genre, I feel I can bring a unique perspective to the work. I have published several short stories in The Local Literature Review and The Main Street Press. I also run a mystery book club at the MyTown Library.
Paragraph 4: closure
I have enclosed a self-addressed stamped envelope for your convenience. Should you require more information, please feel free to contact me directly at janedoe@server.com or by phone at 555-555-5555. I look forward to hearing from you.
Angelo, I’m seeing red flags waving. Legitimate agencies don’t want the manuscript right away–that’s the hallmark of scams (so they can tell you it’s amazing and ask you for money). Legitimate agencies want the first contact to consist of a query letter, and sometimes an author bio, short synopsis, or sample pages. When they want to see sample pages, they specify the format and how they want to see them—in the body of the email (where tabs and special characters may not be supported) or as an attachment (and what kind).
Seek Submission Guidelines, Writers’ Guidelines, or Author Guidelines at the literary agency’s website–and make sure you have checked the legitimacy of this agency before you contact them.
Does anyone know how or what to put in a cover letter for a manuscript (book) submission?
I am submitting my novel to a publisher and they require a cover letter to accompany my submission. I have never had to include a cover letter so I’m not sure what should go in this particular type of cover letter. I’ve looked online, but most information is so conflicting that it’s becoming frustrating. Can anyone help me out?
Manuscript Submission!!?
When submitting a manuscript to a publisher (fiction ; novel)
Does the content have to be in paragraphs?
When presenting a manuscript submission for the first time, do you need to send a query and cover letter?
I’m writing a book for the first time and I’m confused between writing a cover letter and a query. Do I need to send both? If so, what are the main things I should have in each? I’d really appreciate it if someone could answer my questions.
Question about manuscript submission to an agent?
I’m ready to start querying literary agents about my novel manuscript, but I have a few questions about formatting. I know the rules as far as double-spacing etc for EDITORS, but do agents want the exact same thing? Can I leave my italics as italics for an agent, or do I underline them instead like for an editor? Should I use Courier font, or is Times New Roman acceptable for an agent?
BTW, how about email submissions- any different rules from paper?
Thanks.
What is the Manuscript format for email submission?
The literary agency I’m sending my manuscript to requires email submission, so how do I format my manuscript?
