Free Websites With List of Literary Agents?
I’m so excited that I’m bouncing. I just finished my novella and am going to start editing it tomorrow (it shouldn’t take me too long).
I know how to write a query letter. But I have to find an agent to SEND the query letter to.
Does anyone know free websites with lists of literary agents and their mailing addresses? I can’t afford membership to any websites, so please don’t send me somewhere I have to pay money for.
The book genre is somewhat friendship/tragedy and aimed at young teens/pre-teens, if you would like to point me in the direction of a specific agent. Thanks so much!
Go to the Library and look at the Guide to Literary Agents, it’s a book in the writing reference section.

You may need to visit the library for Writer’s Market, Literary Marketplace, and Jeff Herman’s Guide to Literary Agents. Any copy less than five years old probably has about 80% accuracy. Jot down the names and website URLs of those who represent your genre, then check online whether they still do.
Speaking frankly, though: Having seen the excerpts you post here so often, I don’t believe your work is yet polished enough to catch an agent’s eye. I’m sorry, I know that’s not what you asked, much less what you want to hear. Writers may have one shot with an agency. Agents keep track of who’s submitted and some even blacklist writers whose work, query, or enclosure(s) is unprofessional. You don’t want to make the amateur mistake of contacting agencies before you have a marketable product. Take the time to make it better, even if that means another six months.
Ideally, you should try to find a freelance editor in the city where you live, so you can consult easily. You might try the writing department of your university or college.
Hi. I ran into your query I hope I can help. You may probably decide which way you want to go if you have exhausted all options. Perhaps its best still if you happen to have a publishing plan mapped out and then go from there.
What are your thoughts on publishing the whole thing yourself while waiting for agents to do it for you? There are actually lots of chances for agents/editors/publishers to take notice of your book once they see the finished product.
In the meantime, I’ll give you something to peruse while you are at it. Let me know if you have questions. 🙂

I am looking for a literary agent to publish an autobiography…?
I am currently writing an autobiography and am looking for a respectable literary agent to represent me. Can anybody recommend me an agent?
Does anybody know where I can find a list of agents for free?
Thank you in advance.
I am seeking a list of freelance literary editors who are editing quality books that are being published.?
I have written my book, ninety six thousand words, have been through each chapter at least fourteen times. I have already been through a lot as for what “to and not to do” as for getting published. Now I am hearing from the best literary agents it is best to have a qualified free lance editor pre-edit it before it even goes to them, the agent. I have heard this even from writers who are and have been published. I trusted John Paine because several good authors had already recommended him in their books. However my work is not his style. And I have had trouble finding other free lance editors with top credentials, actual top works that have in deed been published, and even more so those who have been published recently. There are free lance editors that have had one work published, or those books that were of lesser quality, or even had at one time edited for someone that became extremely popular but the book they edited was not one of them.
Is there anyone out there that can help me in this direction? I am not looking for an opinion, just facts.
Thanks,
David
