How to format a book – Mother knows best
You know what they say, mother knows best, and my mother used to say âfirst impressions countâ. It was instilled into me as a youngster – wash your face, polish your shoes, wear a good outfit, sport a necktie – how inhibiting life was. How I loathed obeying the rules. It was for a reason though. Mum knew just how much those first impressions meant.

When writing a non-fiction book manuscript, what format should I type in?
Font size, spacing, etc.
On Word:
Default margins
Times New Roman font
Size of font: 12
Double-spaced.
EDIT ADD : Except for any long quotes from other sources, those you’ll have to add another five spaces to the margins on either side and single-space them.
If you need to know more about citations, bibliography etc, and how to set them up, look in Wiki at
http://www.wikipedia.org
Just put ‘citations’ in the search box, and from there you can click on any word in blue relating to your questions or the type of work it is or what type of citation you want to use, period. There are a lot of words in blue, if that’s a problem.

Manuscript format, non-fiction?
I am writing a non-fiction book and need to use pictures/diagrams to demonstrate the point that I am trying to make. Would this be okay to put in a manuscript as long as they are cited properly or would it be best to just go without the pictures and allow the editor/publisher to find them and put them in? Cannot find anything about this on the web and I don’t have a particular publisher in mind.
I think you should discuss the addition of photos after your manuscript is accepted.
If the photos absolutely have to be included, make color copies of them if necessary.
Format for non-fiction manuscript?
I want to write a non-fiction book. Where can I find manuscript guidelines to follow? I have no specific publisher in mind. I’m a rookie at this. I am also interested in knowing which format I should use to cite sources in my bibliography? MLA, Chicago, etc? Any insite is appreciated. I’m doing my research and eager to start the writing process. Thanks!
Use Harvard, to cite your sources it’s the acceptable international standard, or Oxford.
There are no manuscript guidelines per se, but you should follow good intellectual reasoning, and make it as interesting as possible. I would get a few books on your subject area, and see have they have dealt with question of format etc.
How can I type my manuscript for my book?
I have all of my information, now I am going to put everything into words and write my book. It is going to be a non-fiction, factual book. What manuscript format do I need to use?
Use one-inch margins all around and Times New Roman at font 12.
You can always place it in double-space format at your leisure by highlighting the text and then press Ctrl and the number 2.
Usually, the first paragraph of the book is not indented; only the succeeding paragraphs are indented.
When writing a book, how do you include photos in the manuscript?
What format do publishers want to receive photos in? How do you get rights to use other peoples photos? Any info on including photos in a book manuscript for a first time writer would be appreciated. This if for a non-fiction book.
