Why do you want one in LA? The best literary agents are in NYC because all the publishers are in NYC. If you’re shopping a script, LA is the place to be but for novels, it’s NYC.
I wrote this synopsis for a literary agent and…I need some help.?
How does this synopsis sound to you all? :
“Bill Casland and his wife Jennifer thought that this weekend was going to be filled with fun….instead it was one that was filled with murder, mayhem and unbelievable horror.”
Thirty-six year old Doctor Bill Casland lives in fast paced Los Angeles, California. He is a kind hearted man who is at times–somewhat paranoid about people and the things around him. He is married to actress Jennifer Casland, a woman who is flamboyant, flirtacious and argumentative. She’s very high maintenence and extremely unappreciative of everything Bill does for her. So when she finds out that Bill is taking her sailing on his yacht for her thirty-ninth birthday to the island of Poveglia, she becomes more than a little upset–she becomes infuriated by the whole idea; especially knowing that Bill’s obnoxious, vain and wealthy entrepeneur brother Jeremy and two beer guzzling, carefree friends Joshua and Grant are tagging along.
The beginning of the trip goes well–until they arrive on the beautiful, deserted and unknown to them–demonic island of Poveglia. When they first step onto the island, they discover the soil is combined with the small charred remains of dead bodies. Despite seeing this, the group’s curiousity gets the best of them and they continue with their plans of staying there.
Their first night, they hear loud moans and screams that seem to revereberate their entire surroundings. They feel an intense evil that surrounds them during the day. The wickedness of the island begins to bend their perception of the people and things around them. They are seeing things that aren’t there–they are having nightmarish visions of demons attacking them and seeing mirages that are filled with complete horror. As they soon realize there may be something sinister occuring on the island, the vacation turns into a nightmare.
The maleviolent entity that dwells on the island quickly turns the group against each other violently. They become almost possessed–fighting with each other, betraying each other, plotting to kill each other. As this is occuring, each member of the group gets slaughtered one by one violently by the evil forces that roam the island, until there’s only two left–Bill and Grant.
Through their grief and sadness over the death of the others, they pull together to make plans to leave, but they have one problem–the yacht that Bill and the others were on when they arrived has disappeared without a trace! As Bill and Grant scurry to find a way to escape, the satanic spirits that surround them begin playing mental games of madness, manipulation and deception until both Grant and Bill are slaughtered by the supernatural forces of Poveglia.
sooo… everyone dies. who’s telling the story? someone has to live. that would be a sweet twist at the end to have someone alive telling the story that was otherwise thought to be dead.–> hook a second twist here on maybe how that person plotted this entire thing.
What’s the best way to get a literary agent in Los Angeles?
