Independent Book Publisher
Xlibris Parent Company ASI Leads Global Independent Publishing
Author: Michael McCain
Author Solutions Inc. (ASI), one of the largest self-publishers in the United States, now claims its title as the world leader in the most popular segment of book publishing. According to Bowker, the world’s leading source for bibliographic information, the number of US on-demand titles that were brought to the market in 2008 has exceeded the new US traditionally published titles.
Not so long ago, the only way to get a book published was to get an agent to submit your book to the big publishing houses. Now, self-publishing has revolutionized this practice and authors can now see their books in print without all the hassle.
In 2008 alone, ASI’s family of publishers, which includes Xlibris, has published more than 23,000 new titles to the market. As a whole, ASI companies have published more than 120,000 titles to the market and have helped more than 85,000 authors achieve their goals in publishing.
Xlibris has helped more than 20,000 authors publish over 25,000 titles over the years. As one of the pioneers of the print-on-demand publishing services industry, Xlibris continues to provide authors with quality products and services that are built with years of extensive experience.

How to add your items to the Borders catalog:
Adding Titles to Title Sleuth or Store Inventory Search
Books
Our customers currently have two ways to locate titles available for purchase: through the store inventory search on this site and through our in-store kiosk, Title Sleuth. This includes titles available in store, for store special order, or through an out-of-print search. If you have searched one of these places for your title by ISBN and have not been able to locate it, the fastest way to add it to our catalog is to have Bowker add it to Books in Print. You can contact Bowker at:
R.R. Bowker
Data Collection Center
P.O. Box 6000
Oldsmar, FL 34677-6800
Phone: 888.269.5372
Hours: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM EST Monday through Friday
Bowker email contact: borders2bip@bowker.com
Please make sure to indicate that you would like your title(s) added to Books in Print, as Bowker has several products.
Music, Videos, & DVDs
Our customers currently have two ways to locate titles available for purchase: through the store inventory search on this site and through our in-store kiosk, Title Sleuth. This includes titles available in store or for store special order. If you have an established distributor or one-stop availability source, the fastest way to ensure that your music, video, or DVD titles are listed in this catalog is to contact Muze, Inc. You can contact Muze at:

304 Hudson Street, 8th floor
New York, NY 10013
Attn: Music (or Video, as applicable) Data Dept.
Customer Service Phone: 1-800-456-7838
Email address: custsrv@muze.com (general information only).
Please make sure to indicate whether the product to be added is music, video, or DVD.
Submitting Titles for Store Consideration
If you are interested in having your title stocked in a Borders store, please send two copies of each title and a cover letter including company address and proposed terms to:
New Vendor Acquisitions
Borders Group, Inc.
100 Phoenix Drive
Ann Arbor, MI 48108
The use of distributors and wholesalers is strongly recommended. A complete list of distribution channels should be included with your submission. Products submitted to our buyers for consideration will not be returned. Submissions will be acknowledged within 90 days of receipt. You will be informed of the buyers’ decision at that time via postcard.

It’s called “self-publishing.”
It’s a pretty basic form but no less legitimate than having your book printed by someone else. If you pay for it, it is self-published. And, like other self-published books, you are responsible for marketing it and distributing it.
set up a booth at a comic book convention in your area.

Anyone know a good publisher who will publish my english language book on humour?
I am finishing this, and would love to work with a small, independent publisher in Mumbai or Bangalore
What are some ways I can advertize my independent comic book?
We’ve had close to two hundred copies printed, but we don’t have an official publisher. I’ve been circulating the book around local comic shops, but I feel like I could do more. Are there forums or conventions I could try, to raise word of mouth and attention to the book?

I would be extremely interested in as much coverage and enjoyment my comic can get. The comic is called “Horsemen,” a humor/adventure series. The first issue is 32 pages long, and all information can be found on our site, listed above. Please send me an email and we can discuss further possibilities. Thanks!
Is there a name for independent photocopy books?
For example, I write a book or draw a comic. I don’t have a publisher, so I photocopy all of the pages at Kinko’s or wherever, then I staple all the pages together by hand. Is there a proper term for these kinds of books?
