I Googled “publisher australia” and immediately came up with this link: http://www.publishers.asn.au/
Their links section contains a list of members that is very comprehensive. Now it’s up to you to do the research for a publisher who works in your genre.
Moorna Publications is a small book publisher in the north of Queensland that accepts unsolicited fiction and non-fiction manuscripts as long as they’re not poetry etc.
They only accept them on the 5th & 20th day of each month excepting 5th Jan & 20th Dec
The addy for submissions is: submissions@moornapublications.com
Moorna Publications has a good rep for dealing with new authors and they like to promote Aussie writers and book illustrators, but also take submissions from writers in other countries.
They just put up a new website but its hard to find on search engines at the moment until google and whoever pick it up after a few weeks.
The other one I can think of is Unwin & Allen that accept them only on Fridays.
They are a big publishing house in Sydney I believe.
Their submission addy is: fridaypitch@unwinandallen.com
This place is the biggest one of all of the Aussie book publishers so its hard to get accepted by them, but worth a try.
I know there’s a couple or so more around the coutry that take them too but I can’t remember their addys at this moment
Hope this helps you.
There is skepticism about whether or not your platform is strong enough. That is, what qualifies you to talk about these things.
Also in the US at least, non-fiction needs to be queried and sold BEFORE writing any of it…
I believe Bekins Publishers could help you out.
It sucks when you get burned by a literary agency, but online there are just so many. There are sources that you can use in the future to guide you. Preditors and Editors is one. Absolute Write Water Cooler Bewares and Background Checks is another. If you join Absolute Write, you will find some Aussies there who may be able to help you. I am not sure if there is an Au version of Writers Market or Literary Marketplace, but there must be, and perhaps someone there can give you the name. If you go there, join the poetry forum. Poetinahat who runs the forum is from Au. I am sure he will be a big help to you. And tell him I said hi. Pax-C
hi, I actually write a little in my free time and I found a place you will want to go to that should answer all your questions. I don’t remember the name of the site, but my id is my yahoo email address. Email me and I will forward the email I received from them………..Good Luck
no,, sorry 🙁
I don’t know about Australian publishers, but most US-based publishers don’t accept unsolicited manuscript – you have to query them first. If you’re looking for a US publisher then it might be best to find an agent first, and if you don’t have luck with that then start looking for publishers on your own. Most large US publishing houses will only accept queries and manuscripts from writers represented by an agent. Good luck.
http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums can give you help on finding agents and publishers and how to go about the process.
Not at all. You can work from any place and have your books published anywhere, ideally. Many Asian authors are published in UK, USA etc.
Your agent should be able to tell you that. SOme agents work internationally. So contact your agent for more details. But as far as the possibility of the whole thing is concerned, yes it is possible.

Who was the publisher for the first book of the Australian writer Jean Chapman?
about Jean Chapman
As a fiction writer in Australia, should I pitch directly to American publishers?
Do Australian publishers also sell books in America or should I try to pitch directly to that wider market? America is so much larger that in theory at least it should be easier to be published there. What do you think?
childerns book publishers in australia??
does anyone know any australian book publishers that publish childrens books?? my dad writes childrens books and he would like them to be published so if anyone knows it would be a great help…. thx alot
INeed email addresses of reputable Australian publishing industry contacts for book
I am currently writing my first novel and I am wanting someone in the publishing industry to review my work and perhaps be a mentor for me. I was badly burned by the internet based Poetry and Literary Agency who offered to be my ägent”and sell my work to publishers for a fee.
I have a genuine need for advice – I have a book synopsis and want to have my poetry published as well but do not have the money to pay an agent to represent me. What should I do? does anyone have any insider contacts or advice to help get me started – I have a Readers Digest membership, I have a book synopsis partially finished and 30 completed poems that have won many awards. How do you get a book published if you have limited funds, most publishers wont accept unsolicited mail.
ONLY GENUINE AUSTRALIAN BOOK PUBLISHING CONTACTS AND PLEASE LIST THE BOOKS THE COMPANY HAVE PUBLISHED AS I WILL LOOK THE BOOKS UP AS A REFERENCE BEFORE CONTACTING.

Does an Australian author have to publish with an Australian publisher?
If I wrote a book (I live in Australia) and I wanted to get it published, would I have to choose an Australian Publisher such as Fremantle Press or Macmillan, or could I send my manuscript/query to overseas Publishers like Little Brown?
ALSO If I had an Australian agent would he/she be able to contact/query overseas (Mainly American and British) publishers?
Thank you
Are Australian publishers likely to be interested in publishing a non-fiction book first written as a thesis?
I have an idea for a book on Australian national identity and politics that I believe could have a broad appeal. I am considering writing it as a Master’s or doctoral thesis and then seeking book publication, as I haven’t written anything like this before, and think that my having a supervisor and some instruction on research methods, etc., would benefit the project. Are Australian publishers likely to be interested in publishing a book that began life as a thesis? Or is there scepticism within the industry about the mainstream appeal of such works? Please note that I am not seeking to self-publish, but would like to find a reputable publisher that will invest in proper marketing and distribution.
Do you know of any Australian publishers who’d publish a book set in Ancient Roman times?
It’s part of a series, the first book, and will probably be around 50,000 words long once I’m finished writing it. The publisher would have to be Australian, because I’m not sending it overseas to get it published. The genre is historical fiction, the intended age group probably between 10 and 15 years old. Thanks!
Are there any publishers who accept unsolicited children’s books from Australian writers?
Does anyone know any Australian publisher mailing addresses for fiction books?
I’m currently writing a fictional book, when it is finished i want to send it to a publisher, i live in Australia and need some mailing addresses of publishers so i can send my book to them can anyone help?
thank yu
Can anyone recommend an Australian publisher for unsolicited manuscripts?
I’m looking to find as many Australian book publishers as possible that accept unsolicited manuscripts to be able to compile a list of them for a writer’s community website.
Please list all you can to help not just me out, but all Aussie writers trying to get their work read and hopefully published
