Getting Books Published
The Science of Getting Rich (links to Free E-books on Subject Matter are Contained in This Article)

The Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary defined a book as “a written work published in printed or electronic form. It is interesting to note that the greatest part of a writer’s time is spent in reading. In order to write, a man will turn over a library to make a book. This underlines the fact that every good book is a function of hard work, sacrifice, perseverance and dedication by the author.
Prior to the advent of the Internet, emphasis was placed only on printed forms of books. This limited its distribution, sales and purchases. It also restricted readership. With the advent of the internet, we now have unhindered access to both printed and electronic forms of books; popularly known as e-books. Almost all books previously written in hard copies now have their soft copies published on popular websites like

Apart from having them published on websites, people have the freedom to sell, order, buy or read e-books on the internet. I have provided a few of the reliable websites where you can purchase, sell or download thousands of e-books on various topics of interest at the end of this article.
I sincerely thank God for the existence of books. It is mainly through books that we enjoy intercourse with superior minds. In the best of books, great men and women talk to us, give us their most precious thoughts and pour their souls into ours.
Books are the voices of the distant and the dead and make us heirs of the spiritual life of past and present ages. Books are true levelers. They give to all who will faithfully use them, the society and the spiritual presence of the best and greatest of our race. No wonder it is the major platform on which the wisdom and knowledge of this world is transmitted from generation to generation.
Searching for information on the internet is like searching for an object in the ocean. Without proper guidance and direction you may not get at what you are looking for on time. It is for this reason that I have taken the pain to search out the following websites for you. I hope you will find them useful and interesting. You may not be able to access them merely by clicking; so you may need to copy and paste them on your browser in order to be able to access the websites.

You need to show the agents that your novels are worth it. Try entering some contests and when you win them, you can put them in your query letter. They will be impressed by the fact that you have won a writing contest and they might wish to see more.
It is true that you need an agent. The agent would get you noticed to the publishers. Without the agent you have three choices:
~ Just send the mnauscript out to the publishers without an agent and then never hear from the publishers because your novel would go straight to the slush pile.
~ Self publish your novel. You need to get this book out there yourself. You get more royalties because you control how much money you earn from this novel. You also hold the rights to the novel and not the publisher.
~ Throw the novel away and never look at it again.
So you really need an agent. If you can’t get an agent then your book will NOT get published. The publishers only have the time and money to look at a novel and publish it if you have an agent. Your agent will also make sure your book is noticed. It is worth a try!
Good Luck!
Self-publishing is not a great idea because many credible newspapers & magazines will not review a self-published book.
An ISBN should not cost anywhere near $500. It’s a pain in the neck to obtain one – a freelance editor if you can find one might do that for you for a fee but not a $500 fee.
I’m leery of Booksurge, they don’t always produce when they say they would & there are proofing issues with their work.
For a first book it’s most important that it be well designed & laid out, and carefully proofed.
We all think what we’ve written is better than what’s already published and that bias does not make us the best judge of our own work.
As many literary agents will tell you, it’s better to focus on one or the other. If you feel your novel is better than your children’s books then try to get that published first. Have you studied children’s and Young Adult writing? They are completely different than writing adult novels, especially when writing for young children.
There will be a problem with trying to get published in two completely different genres and it usually comes back to you being a new author and not having an established fan base. You need to establish a fan base first and that entails sticking to one genre for the time being, and that’s either whatever genre you’re writing for adult, or childrens. Once you have a fan base then it’s recommended that you branch out into other areas. Plus, there are few literary agents who will represent both young children’s books and young adult, so keep this in mind as you’re searching.
the international isbn agency is a good starting point to doing this – website link below
It’s not a publishing company you’re looking for. The publisher won’t give your manuscript a second glance unless you have an agent. An agent generally will take 15% from your profit, if there is one. Here’s what you need to do.
1. Finish the book.
2. Edit, edit, edit.
3. Buy yourself the newest copy of “Writer’s Market” you can find. It’s like the Yellow Pages for writers. They will have listings of agents there.
4. Write a query letter to an agent. In it, summarize your book, compare it to other books, mention any other things you’ve written (like if you’ve been published in a magazine) and thank them for their time.
5. Wait. IF the agent is interested in your novel, which means IF you get lucky, they will ask for your manuscript. Most people get dozens of rejections before getting an agent interested in them.
6. Wait some more. I’m in this part of the waiting.
Presumably, what goes on after this is IF the agent like the manuscipt he or she will attempt to get it published for you. Then there’s a lot of legal dealings which I’m not going to advize you on.
Best of luck.

go to your web search and type in “publish america.com” they are great and not a vanity publisher where you have to pay money to get published.
I’m having the same problem right now, hold on, I’ll be right back, I don’t know if I deleted that link or not.

And I got a thumbs down…why? Couldn’t find it anyway.
There are many good creative writing programs out there. Really, it depends on what you want to write.
Some schools are better for fiction, some for poetry, and some for nonfiction. For instance, Ohio University in Athens, OH has a great newswriting program, U of Iowa has a strong fiction writing program, Ball State is good for poetry, and so on. Try going to fastweb.com and creating a profile. They will suggest programs all over the world that offer what you want. The link is below.
No legitimate publisher charges the author. In publishing, money flows to the author from the publisher, not the other way around.
So-called publishers who charge writers are not truly publishers, but companies who print copies of a book, sometimes at a significant price. Avoid them!
Since you are interested in writing and publishing children’s books, I recommend you find an organization (like Society of Children’s Book Writers) designed for writers in your area. You can also find books at the library or bookstore on publishing children’s books.
Good luck to you in your pursuit of publication. It is entirely possible but you must do your homework!
What is a good college for learning about writing, and getting books published?
How do I start getting my books published?
With what publisher should I consider getting some books published?
I am considering self publishing, or I could go with Vantage Press, or Booksurge (of Amazon). I think it costs $500 for an ISBN, and I am trying to cut costs but I must have an ISBN for my books, and I would like to get at least 40% of the sale value per book; with Booksurge I would not get the 40% but then they would pay for the ISBN number. Or I could just have a Print house produce my book. Any ideas?
How do I go about getting my books published?
I’m a new author & have written a children’s book, but don’t have the faintest clue how to get published. It seems you need an agent to get published, and you can’t get an agent unless you’ve been published! I’d like to find a reputable ad agency to send my work to, but I don’t know how you’d tell if they were reputable or not. Help, please?
Where can I get free info on getting children’s books published ?
I need to know about how to format my submissions, how to present original artwork, and how best to find an agent.
I know I won’t get rich — heck, I won’t even quit my day job! But my ideas runneth over…
Thanks in advance!
