Book Publishers Canada
Witty Quote Book

Dec 3, 2009 CAZENOVIA, N.Y – In recent years, new and innovative publishing industry business models have granted numerous opportunities for writers previously shut out by the iron doors of mainstream book publishers. Now BookCollaborative.com, an online community of artists, advocates and enthusiasts is employing some of these same strategies, including print-on-demand, to help visual artists get more exposure in the publishing world. Founded by Bradford Wheler, author and former CEO of Allan Electric Company, BookCollaborative.com is designed to showcase the talent of new and emerging artists in independently published works, and is poised to become a powerful alliance in the literary and artistic communities at large.
Newly launched BookCollaborative.com harnesses the power and functionality of the Internet, outsourcing, social networking and print-on-demand to give visual artists more opportunities to market their talents via exposure in print publications. When artists join the community, they create an online profile, including digital images of their original artwork, and information about themselves, their discipline and their technique. By participating, the artists grant BookCollaborative.com nonexclusive rights to use digital images of their artwork in books and related products published and distributed by the website.
“It can be extremely difficult for a new writer to get his or her foot in the door in the publishing industry, but it’s an even more arduous undertaking for visual artists,” said Bradford Wheler, founder of BookCollaborative.com and author of “SNAPPY SAYINGS: Wit & Wisdom from the World’s Greatest Minds”. “Our goal is to help artists capitalize on the marketing potential that the publishing world offers by featuring them in our new book releases. We also envision that the site will help to support and promote original art and art appreciation by luring the interest of art lovers of all ages.”
BookCollaborative.com is open to individual artists and affinity groups, including school groups and community art associations. There is no fee to join the BookCollaborative.com community, and artists are not charged to be featured in the site’s publications. In addition to opportunities for increased exposure among potential buyers and industry professionals, the site also offers artists a place to share their talent with other artists, get valuable feedback and network.
In May, BookCollaborative.com welcomed its debut release, “Snappy Sayings: Wit & Wisdom from the World’s Greatest Minds” by Bradford. Wheler. The book is a collection of quotes from historic and contemporary figures, and features hundreds of photos and illustrations. The book will be available at Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com and in bookstores throughout the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. The book retails for .95.
“Collaboration is key in the promotion and development of art in any form,” said Wheler. “We’re excited to create opportunities for artists that will hopefully be stepping stones to even greater career achievements.”

Publishers do not speak to authors by phone. They respond to written queries only. With the high volume of submissions they get, they have no time to get pitched over the phone by authors.

The “Writers and Artists Yearbook” is basically the only book you need. It lists almost all publishers, what they publish and where they are.
Also, DO NOT USE PUBLISHAMERICA, they are a scam and somehow people STILL fall for it…
Definitely!
Primarily, you would need to assess your book’s publishing plan. Ask yourself if you need editing, marketing, book cover layout consultation, interior design customization and all that jazz. After mapping out your book’s requirement, find a publishing company that will cater to all of your needs.
There are publishing companies who practically has everything an author requires. They have programs that have all the inclusions that will turn your book of poems into book form. If your book is all good to go, your book will be available in the market in 2-3 months the most.
I hope this helps.
Publishing companies now have all the resources to publish books with the same productivity and efficacy as that of regular black and white books. Considering the fact that most books are in full color, you should choose a publishing company whose book’s are of the highest quality, bar none.
Ed is right. Publishers are worldwide now. With the advent of digital publishing, you can never go wrong.
Maybe you would like to ask around and perhaps shop around. Many would also suggest getting an agent which could take SO long for them to sit down and actually notice what you have there and believe me, we are not just talking months here but years. Let me give you something to peruse at while you are at it and hopefully this will help in your ride to the wagon of success.
I wish you luck! I got mine in the mail, too. Helps to collect these information before you get to decide. 🙂

Not to rain on your parade but, I doubt it will be published. Some of the greatest books of our time have been refused to be published. You can try…. but I doubt it will happen…..
Here’s a list of Canadian children’s publishers:

It is not complete, but it’s a good start.
Just get out of canada .. they will appreciate you there .. then go back to canada famous
How long are these “short” novels? I write SF/F myself. You need to check the publishing sites for their guidelines. The fastest way to get to the sites is to go to http://www.ralan.com. It is the best collection of market listings around. It shows pro and semi pro markets, lists information and weblinks, etc.
Also, you need to find the editors and predators site (go to SFWA.org or google the phrase. What you don’t want to do is get hooked into a vanity press situation where you wind up paying for the printing of the book (money goes to the author, not from the author), or get sent to a phony book doctor, or get something that has no marketing behind it at all. The problem is not just getting printed, it’s getting the book out where people can see and buy it. POD (print on demand) can sometimes be good, but I’d be very wary. Someone has to know about the book and ask for it. If the books aren’t in the bookstores, most people will never know you’ve written them.
There are great sites to help you (SFWA is one of them) that can help you in your goal to become a professionally published writer.
Good luck.
